60. Let That Sh*t Go

Da Da Da...back to April 2019! This came to mind to post because I believe in its powerful lesson: Let. It. Go. We tend to hold on so tightly to both positive and negative- physical possessions, bank account numbers, past experiences, future expectations, past emotions, past relationships, life plans..the list goes on. I sincerely believe when we can be centered within, detaching from all of this will open up all of our own lives. I currently am again at a life juncture, needing to make a decisions based solely on the present. Struggle of 2020 so far, right?

Remember when I left San Diego February 2017 "for 3 months, then returning to San Diego to work with my old boss" and I put everything in storage? Well those old bosses called, I said no, I kept working at this skydiving dream, and all that stuff stayed in storage. Storage made sense for those 3 months...but then it stayed there for 2 years past the 3 months. It was the safety net which I thought was such a comfort, turned into a wall holding me back.

In April, there was a rainy weekend, my first ever off from iFLY. It came over me that it was time to fly back to SD and clear out the damn storage unit out. There was no signs life was pointing back to San Diego yet because I had the storage unit, I continually had in my mind "I'm always going back to San Diego." When things were challenging here, my brain defaulted to returning to San Diego because my stuff was there.

As soon as I opened that storage unit in San Diego, I realized there was literally 99% old things I did not want. I realized there was so much emotion clinging to these possessions that needed to be let go. I easily threw away most of it and the rest went to a best friend who has just moved back to San Diego. For something that had provided so much comfort through this adventure, I then felt immediate relief to clear it out.

This is such a good example of the sh*t that holds us back without us even knowing it. I swear the cells in our body hold on to the energy of the past and it takes continuous work to let it all go. Once I cleared out that physical stuff, it finally let me be completely focused on life in Houston.

Steph, Alex, Katie, Charlene and Duncan were all best friends that weekend who reminded me that San Diego will always be a special place for me. I had one box left of the "just can't throw this away" - Steph sat with me on the floor making me laugh as she said REALLY?! You need this?! HAHA! It was that last 1% that was the hardest- thank goodness for her. I did bring one small bag of genuinely special possessions back to Houston. Thank you all for your support in officially moving to the next life chapter. Also included here are of Steph then coming to visit Houston, reminding me that it is truly the people who make anywhere home.
